Why did you select this song as your single?
I chose this song as my single because I thought it was an easy title to identify, as well as featuring veteran Pittsburgh MC’s Kid A & Cory Eaux, it could spread out to markets I may not have listened to me otherwise. I wanted it to be a declaration that I can very much hang with the best in Pittsburgh.
How does this song relate to the rest of the mix-tape?
The single really sets the tone for the rest of the project. “Ghostwriter for Hire” maintains the dark tone of my last project “The Monarch”, but trying to focus into a more purer version of hip-hop in terms of lyrics and songwriting. I believe with this project you will set the next step in the evolution of my sound. Subject matter, delivery and voice have become a bit more polished and focused.
What was the writing process for this song?
Going into writing this track it was an extremely competitive environment. I knew that Kid A and Cory were going to bring their A-game, and I was looking to prove myself and be able to assert myself along side them. We are all fans of each other’s music and very supportive, but at the end of the day we are wanted to have the best verse. That competitive nature I think drives us to be the best we can possibly be, which in turn creates a really strong track in many different facets.
What would it be like to see this song performed in person?
Well I can tell you that if all three forces united it would be a performance of epic proportions. A whole lot of energy, alot of of fun. We are three performers that really take pride in putting on a show for people. We are going to have to make that happen for you guys sometime and get it on film!
Do you have a video planned for this song?
Video is currently in per-production with Overall Omniscience. The plan right now is to leave off where the original video left off with the world population decimated by disease, the survivors are left to pick up the pieces. Look for the three of us in Mad Max post-apocalyptic type roles. Looking for a release somewhere around the release of the mixtape on 9-25-13
