Why did you select this song as your current single?

I thought this particular song showcases all of the facets of my being: The angst, the wit, the envy, self deprecation, and the humor. “Susan” is Lazy JP in its rawest form.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Mix-tape?

This song is the third track, and first solo song on my mixtape “Ghostwriter For Hire” (out now), which I believe sets the tone for the rest. The overarching theme of the mixtape was to convey cleverness through witty lyricism, but wrapped in a package of visceral emotion and brutal honesty.

What was the writing process for the song?

The instrumental was produced by Zoomo and Hitmayng, and they provided this raw almost industrial sound, it really provided the perfect canvas to paint upon and let loose a complete stream of consciousness without have any reservations. I just listened to the beat a few times, and thoughts and lyrics began to just pour out of my mind.

What does this song’s lyric mean to you?

The song lyrics are really just the rambling diatribe of a man in his early 20’s that is at a cross roads in his life. The first verse resembles my conscience reviewing the events that have happened to me in the last year or so, and how we as aspiring artists crave attention via social media. Many of us have become addicted to “likes”. The second section depicts the story of a man who is harassed by the law for something that he believes in, and is force to question the morality of said beliefs due to them being shunned by mainstream society. The last section turns into a declaration that we will no longer buy into the structure of the music industry, and we have chosen to go our own way. For better or for worse this is our path.

What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?

Madness…

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

I believe so. Some of my fans are used to me singing catchier hooks, but I wanted to take a different take for this track. Not just being lyrical for the sake of competition, but coupling that with my own personal emotions and beliefs. I feel that can be more relative to the average listener even though it may shock.

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

The video is what I submitted to your site as the song was released with my mixtape last September. The idea of the video was to overload the senses with chaos. The song as previously described is very raw and a bit unstable, which we tried to accompany it with the visuals. I directed the video myself with shooting and editing from Overall Omniscience.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

It is an outlet for me to vent, and I said to myself if I’m going to put myself out there and possibly embarrass myself, I might as well go all in with everything that I have. At this point I’m in too deep to quit now.
