Independent Rock Band – Winter’s Descent

Winter's Descent

 About Winter’s Descent:

Winter’s Descent was formed in 2008 when vocalist, Jerry Mulligan, guitarist, Paul Lucas, and drummer, Shawn Naeser embarked on a project with a single purpose in mind; to discover a truly unique sound that would captivate listeners and set the group apart from other hard-edge bands on the scene. But with so many groups already laying claim to so many diverse styles, it was easier said than done.
Determined to break new ground, the three experimented with a multitude of different approaches, following their collective inspiration wherever it lead. The process was long and painstaking, but in the end it paid off. Combining the chemistry of free-style improvisation along with collaborative writing techniques, the group’s original sound began to take shape. The result was dynamic. Unfiltered, untamed, and powerfully expressive, Winter’s Descent was born.
The band spent several years writing material and playing the local rock scene, consistently turning heads with the raw intensity of their live performances. They found the perfect melodic accompaniment when they met lead guitarist, Scott Bish. His shredding solos and soaring leads provided symmetry to Descent’s thundering low end and brought depth and imagination to their sound.
Their vision was fully realized when they were joined by rhythm guitarist, Rob Johnston, whose talented picking and crafty writing style completed their ensemble and opened new doors of creative inspiration for the group. Johnston’s original song, Crash and Burn, smashed through boundaries and has come to represent the union between Descent’s raw presence and fascinating musical intellect.
Winter’s Descent has since recorded their first studio release, Zero Hour, a four song EP with more to follow. The band has performed at festivals, concerts and events at Altar Bar, Saddle Ridge, 31st Street Pub, and other Pittsburgh rock venues. Their unique style, magnetic stage presence and stunning performances continue to enthrall audiences and have made them one of Pittsburgh’s most quickly emerging heavy rock groups.
