Back CameraCheck out this great new post featuring London’s own Lazy Flux

Why did you select this song as your current single?

The sun is starting to appear after a long London winter. It’s about this time that minds drift to warmer climbs, and that is exactly what Zanzibar Bazaar is all about

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?

It’s the most mellow of the three on the first LAZYFLUX EP – Master Craftsmen

What was the writing process for the song?

This one originated from a jam warm up before a set rehearsal, We got into the progression and added little bits here and there, broke it down quietly and built it back up again. Most of our tracks follow this kind of pattern of dynamic, that sense of building up from something small and quiet to something more powerful and exciting is the shape the music usually takes.

The lyrics came later. Unusually the chorus riff was only conceived x2 weeks before recording. Hopefully the recording captures that freshness.

What does this song’s lyric mean to you?

The older we become, the more desires we desire, the more ideas we have and the more we try to achieve. I get busy, and enjoy being busy, and often say that I wouldn’t want it any other way, To a large extent that is true, but this song is about when you would want it some other way, when you don’t want to be busy, when you want to take a break, spend quality time with your loved ones, and get some relaxation in, somewhere warm, somewhere bright.

What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?

Amazing. Probably the best musical performance you will ever see in your life. Honestly. We’re so good, it’s an obscene amount of talent on show.

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

To a certain extent. A song can represent a number of facets of a writers personality. It’s unlikely a solitary song would be all encompassing enough to summarize an entire personality, but the more we write the more we articulate about our experiences, and the bigger the picture of who we are becomes.

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

Not at this point. Perhaps we’ll get flown out to Zanzibar for some sun, sand and sea? *dreams*

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

Fairly succinctly, we have a number of motivations. We’re interested in the physical reaction a piece of music can create in an individual. When we hear music we love, we a chill from it. There will be a sweet-spot that will almost always create that same physical reaction at the same point in time of the track. I am lucky that when I play music with the guys that they are capable of making me feel that way too. These moments are the addiction. These moments are what we examine as blueprints for arrangements, paying close attention to dynamics. We write the songs around them and look to reproduce them live and on record in the hope that like-minded listeners will enjoy these moments in the same way. It’s pretty self-serving stuff!

The second motivation is the successful articulation of sentiments lyrically which are of particular significance. To put together words which adequately describe a real life scenario which has been deemed interesting enough to add to a song, interesting enough to be repeated many times, adds value to those experiences in much the same was as keeping a diary does. These songs represent history, snap shots of time, which over a period of time form a record of a lifetime. If only from a personal point of view, it’s nice to be able to reminisce and recollect on our own lives using our music, but on a grander scale we do this with other peoples music and lyrics too, so it’s cool to contribute and to think that our music may also do this same thing for others.
