Media/AudioNewMusic: Dangerous Game by The Cry – Portland, OR

Charles Angels - The CryARTIST COMMENT:

Why did you select this song as your current single?

We were finishing up production on our second album, getting nibbles for decent labels and want to get something out for fans.  A Japanese label (SP Records) asked if they could release a single for us so we sent then the first two songs that had been completed… nothing “strategic” about it…just trying to get something on vinyl.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape? ·

We are not trying to get all “deep” or make any “important” statement with our LP.  We hate that heady shit.  Rock ‘n’ Roll suffers from self-absorbed pretentious bullshit.   For “The CRY!” is  all about making short catchy, fun rock ‘n’ rock pop songs. that’s all..

What was the writing process for the song?

Pretty typical:  I (Ray Nelsen) wrote the track “Dangerous Game.”  Our process is simple, once the basic song is written; the writer brings the song to the band..  If the  other boys dig it, the whole band works out arrangement and instrumentation.  We rehearse for a while, drink beer, and then record….  It is whole band collaboration in the studio.

What do this song’s lyrics mean to you?

Shit, we are not trying to have deep cathartic meaning or anything like that.  It is almost always about  sex …

What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?

Sleazy, fast, provocative.   Watch the video for “seventeen” on Youtube and see for yourself…  Audiences have dug it.

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

Really?  Don’t want to go all “Ginger Baker” on you but that is a stupid question… Can you catch a cloud in a box?  I think not…

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

We like (and can only afford) DIY videos.  “Seventeen” has had a lot of plays on Youtube… no “Idea” really… just trying to keep it simple and Rock ‘n’Roll.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

Don’t suck, world domination, girls, and have fun while we are young….
