Media/AudioNewMusic: She is Gone by Ricky Jarman – NC & NYC

shes gone 3Great new interview from rising NC/NYC star Rick Jarman about his new single, “She’s Gone”.

Why did you select this song as your current single?

I selected “She’s Gone” as my next released single because it’s a lot different from anything I have put out so far. A lot of the stuff I do is upbeat, stuff that gets you dancing. This new single is a slow sound song, which I think helps to show another side to me as an artist.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?

I think that this single helps to give more variety to the upcoming album. There are a lot of people out there with a lot of different tastes in music. Some like it fast, some like it happy, and some like the slow jams. I’m trying to make sure I have an array of sounds in this upcoming album that caters to these different points of views by my audience.

What was the writing process for the song?

The writing process for this song was a lot of fun! It was partially based on a true story, but then other parts of it are fictitious so as to make the flow of the song better and more captivating. It was co-written by a very dear friend of mine, Bryan Malpass. So with this being a co-written song, it was cool to vibe off of one another’s creativity.

What does this song’s lyric mean to you?

The song lyrics to “She’s Gone” hit home with me because some of it is based on real relationship situations I experienced in my past. I am excited for others to hear it as well because I feel everyone can relate to it in some way. Everyone goes through heartbreak at least once in their life.

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

I personally think it would be hard for anyone to be summarized by only one song, so no my fans couldn’t summarize me by just this. A song isn’t meant to show the fullness of you as an artist. Instead a song is meant to show a part of you that your fans can then connect with you on some level. In my opinion, if an artist can be summarized in only one song, then maybe they’re just a one trick pony, and that’s not me.

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

Yes we are currently in pre-production for the music video for this song. I am very excited for both the song release and the making of the video! The single releases publicly June7th and the music video will be shot in NYC June 4th-6th. The idea behind the video was to correlate with the lyrics to the song but to add some twists in it as well. Heartbreak is normal but there are elements in this video that should hopefully catch my audience by surprise. If I say more, I might give the plot away haha. A lot of hard work is going into this project. I am extremely grateful for all those on my team who are contributing to it.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

My motivation behind my music is my fans. I am nothing without my fan base! I have a huge love for them. Their support means the world to me, so I hope I am able to properly give back to them through my music. I just want to make great music that is timeless yet catchy. My goal is to be a positive influence in this crazy world.
