Just when you thought that life sucks and before you know it someone stumbles into your life and they have a reason to be in our lives to make a difference. This movie does wonders in opening your eyes to the possibilities of our faith and purpose in the universe beyond the stars. This movie surrounds the lives of two teenagers, Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) and Agusta Waters (Ansel Elgort) who goes through life battling cancer, but soon realizes that life is way to valuable and important to sit around and be defeated. Instead they enjoy life by living in the moment and falling in love with one another.
“You say you’re not special because the world doesn’t know about you, but that’s an insult to me. I know about you.” ~ John Green
Everything happens for a reason, but taking a chance at life and at love is priceless. We all have to let our guards down and live life and even if we stumble we get right back up and try again. The fact that Hazel and Gus went through a lot of cancer treatments, even taking support group classes together, they still look at life differently and isn’t afraid to speak their minds.
A wish upon the stars is all there is to make your dreams come true, right? Well, not for Gus it isn’t because he brings hope into Hazel life. We all have a choice in life and having the privilege to love someone and to know how someone feels about you is ineffable. In this movie Hazel and Gus chooses to plan a vacation together and spend a few days in Amsterdam to meet their favorite author. As soon as they are faced with challenges they are brought closer together than they imagined.
“That’s the thing about pain, it’s demand to be felt” ~ August Waters
Throughout the movie Gus and Hazel both goes through pain and afflictions, due to their health issues, but they go through it together which made them stronger. The settings and surrounds in the film sets is Indianapolis hospital, in the basement of the cancer support group meetings, and in Amsterdam as well. The major scene in the movie is when Gus and Hazel sat down with Peter Van Houten at his house to discuss his book about knowing what’s it like to die, but the tables are turned. And so from that moment on, as they try to search for answers their lives are changed forever.
