PartnersOne on One with Tia McGraff

We had this interview for a bit with the talented Tia McGraff but with the site going down, we just have a chance now of posting. She released “Stubborn in My Blood.” Take a chance and listen to the song at the end called “Hole in Your Heart” which is the second song on the album.

Why did you select this song as your current single?

One Tin Soldier has always been one of my favorite, anti- war/coming together in peace, songs. How timely! With the anniversary of the end of WW1 (Nov. 11 2018) to the current issues facing our world today, I feel this song needs to be heard. We need to be reminded of the implications of our choices and actions and that peace is fragile.

How does this single relate to the rest of the Album, EP or Mix-tape?

Stubborn In My Blood is a collection of 11 songs that describe the journey into the heart and soul of the dreamer, the artist, the person who is not afraid of taking chances for the sake of change and hope. The single, One Tin Soldier asks us to hear to the story of a kingdom willing to share their wealth with a greedy nation. In the end, peace on earth is all there is.

What was the writing process for the song?

One Tin Soldier was written by  Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter.

What does this song’s lyric mean to you?

The lyric is the story of greed vs generosity and compassion;

War vs peace on earth. The lyric is a reminder that we need to take heed and learn from the past.

What would it be like to see you in person performing this song?

Tommy and I normally perform as an acoustic duo. We love performing One Tin Soldier in the singer-songwriter style. I feel the lyrics and melody and message behind the song are fully exposed this way.

Could your fans summarize who you are as an artist by this song?

I think so. Even though I didn’t write One Tin Soldier, I believe it reveals a lot about my social and political and artistic perspective.

Is there a video planned and or completed and if so, what was the idea behind the video?

Yes. We are releasing a lyric video with images to commemorate the anniversary of the end of WW1 on Nov. 8 2018.

One last question, what is your motivation behind your music?

God! I am an instrument of His peace.
